The new unit for the hygiene room with the massage chair finally came in. So far, patients have overwhelmingly loved it. Some have even requested to make appointments just to use the chair! We do want our patients to be comfortable.
Further news, Dr. Kleiman recently returned from Texas where he was attending the annual conference for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The conference brought dentists from all over the world together to further their knowledge in state of the art cosmetic dentistry.
I recently returned from Boston where I attended the Yankee Dental Congress. This is one of the largest dental conventions and brings together some of the world’s foremost lecturers as well as many dental exhibitors. There were two objectives of this trip. The first was that the leading authority on dental implants was lecturing and I wanted to attend his course. The course concerned replacing lost teeth in the front of the mouth with dental implants and making them appear as natural as possible. While I have been restoring implants for many years, there have been some significant advances in this particular area and I wanted to make sure I had the most current information. This past September, I also attended a two and a half day seminar in Scottsdale that dealt with this area as part of a master level cosmetic dentistry course. I found both courses to be extremely useful in allowing me to provide my patients with the highest level of care possible.
The second objective should make many of my patients happy. I have realized that the chair in the hygiene room has been due for replacement. While at the convention, I spent a lot of time talking with different manufacturers and trying different chairs and finally made my decision. In addition to being extremely comfortable, the chair that I have selected has a massage unit built in that can be turned on or off. I am currently in the order stage with my supplier and I look forward to having it installed.
Dr. Kleiman has just returned from Scottsdale, Arizona where he spent two and a half days studying Master Level Esthetics with Dr. Frank Spear. Dr. Spear is one of the most sought after educators in the field of esthetics and advanced rehabilitation cases. Dr. Kleiman's goal is to be able to deliver the highest quality of care to his patients. This is now the fourth time that he has gone to study with Dr. Spear and like before, he found it extremely helpful in trying to achieve this goal.
Dr. Kleiman was recently voted one of "America's Top Dentists" by the Consumer's Research Council of America. This unique honor is conferred on a small number of dentists nationwide who exhibit exemplary clinical training and patient care. Although Dr. Kleiman says that he is most rewarded by having great relationships with his patients, he truly appreciates the honor.

Update 9-16-08
Dr. Kleiman just returned from Scottsdale, Arizona where he was taking an advanced accreditation course given by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Currently, there is not a recognized specialty for cosmetic dentistry. Any dentist can call themself a cosmetic dentist, but it is actually a very challenging area of dentistry that requires a great deal of knowledge and experience. Dr. Kleiman has spent many years developing his expertise in this area. The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is considered to be the world wide premier organization for cosmetic dentistry. The accreditation process is a three phase process that tests a dentist’s expertise in this area. It is a process that can take up to five years. The first phase is the taking of a rigorous written exam that tests a dentist’s knowledge in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Kleiman took the examination in May and passed it on the first attempt. The next phase is the submission of five different required clinical case types for review. At the course Dr. Kleiman just took in Scottsdale, he was able to bring photos of a case he had completed and the feedback was extremely positive. Several dentists complimented Dr. Kleiman on the excellent quality of his work. After all five cases are presented and passed, an oral examination is scheduled and if passed the dentist is then considered accredited by the AACD. Currently, there are only about 300 dentists in the world who are accredited. Dr. Kleiman plans to make that one more.
